A Prophet Like Moses
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong–The Bible is a book that teaches about Christ, the one who comes to give us salvation.
John 5:39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
Therefore, through the fulfillment of the prophecies in the Bible, we can know true Christ and receive salvation. Today, I would like to take a look at the prophecy of Christ who is to come as Moses.
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong–Christ means “the Anointed One”. As a shadow, in the Old Testament, a king, a high priest, and a prophet were anointed with oil. Thus, Jesus who is God came in the flesh and was baptized to play a role as a prophet. He taught people to know the good news. The Bible testifies there will be a prophet like Moses.
Deuteronomy 18:17 The Lord said to me: “What they say is good. 18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put my words in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. 19 I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name.
And it said that the one who would fulfill this prophecy would teach the laws of God.
Then, who fulfilled this prophecy of a prophet like Moses? The Bible says that Jesus came to fulfill the prophecy of a prophet like Moses.
Acts 3:20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. 22 For Moses said, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from their people.’
Through this fulfillment, we can see that Jesus was the spiritual Moses who was to come.
The Work Of Christ Prophesied In Moses’ Life And Work
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong–Then, why does the Bible call Jesus Moses? It was because Moses’ work in his life was a copy and shadow that teaches us the work of Christ. In other words, Jesus must fulfill the work which was shown in the work of Moses.
Col 2:16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17 These (the laws of Moses) are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
By looking at the shadow, we realize its reality. Just as a shadow cannot exist without its substance, Moses’ life was allowed to show what Jesus would do in the New Testament.
That is why we can see many similarities between Moses and Jesus. At the time of their birth, Satan stirred up the rulers in their time to kill them and tried to hinder the work of God. To escape from death, God sent Moses to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he was adopted by her. In the same way, Satan stirred up King Herod and made him try to kill babies under one year among Israelites. As Moses did, fortunately, Jesus moved into Egypt and be saved His life.
Other Important Works Of Christ Reflected In Moses
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong–The greatest mission commissioned to Moses by God was to free the Israelites from the slavery of Egypt. This was the shadow of the work of Christ who set God’s people free from the spiritual slavery of sin and death. Also, after the emancipation from the slavery, the one-year journey of the Israelites under the guidance of Moses became the motive to establish the festivals of God in the Law of Moses. And this was the foreshadowing for the work of Christ. Jesus established festivals as the New Covenant, the Law of Christ.
Most importantly, the final mission of Moses was to lead God’s people to the Promised Land flowing with honey and milk, the land of Canaan. This was also a copy and shadow of the work of Christ. Jesus Christ led God’s people to the spiritual Canaan which is the kingdom of Heaven.
The Bible testifies about the close relationship between Moses and Jesus like this:
Hebrews 3:5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
Here the Bible testifies again that God chose Moses to bear witness to the things which God would reveal at a later time. And Jesus accomplished spiritually everything that Moses bore witness in the Old Testament.
Moses Jesus Ahnsahnghong–The work of God is so amazing. And God’s words are trustworthy because God fulfills even one single word in the Bible without fail.
Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
The Bible says that Christ will appear a second time(Heb 9:28). We must not neglect the prophecy.
2Thessalonians 5:20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt.
When Christ appears again for our salvation, we must also have an acknowledgment of God through the Bible. Therefore, let us be the ones who study the Bible diligently. And let us know and accept the Second Coming Christ testified in the Bible for our salvation
